Joe (Freddy Bruce) Phillips, 66, of Tampa died on June 23, 2015, after a too-short battle with ALS. A decorated veteran of Viet Nam, Joe served in the Marine Corps and then spent the next 40 years in the bowling industry. He was born in Edmiston, NY, the son of Harold and Catherine Phillips. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, four children and their spouses: Patricia Alten & Larry Cangro, Laura & David Lewicki, Jack Carter & Cheryl Race, Andy & Missy Carter, grandchildren: Nicholas Alten, Amanda Rocamora, Kelsie Carter, Joey Carter, Patrick Lewicki, Matthew Lewicki, David & Sofie Carter, and a great-grandson, Gunner. Survivors also include siblings Harold Phillips, Jr. & Carrie, Juanita Phillips Brown, all of Morris NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service is set for Sunday, July 5 at 2 pm at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, or ALS Association.
