Gary was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Albert L. Busse and Phyllis Naze-Busse on November 13, 1940. He graduated from Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida in 1959. He married Diane Sivard-Busse on June 3, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a veteran who served in the United States Coast Guard and then worked as an Oceanographic Researcher for NOAA for 26 years.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Tamara M. Busse-Hartinger.
Gary is survived by his wife of 62 years Diane and their daughter Natalie K. Busse-Denty and son-in-law K. Scott Denty.
At Gary’s request and his love for the sea, his ashes will be scattered across the ocean.
Memorials may be given to The Jacques Cousteau Society, a man Gary met on several occasions and greatly respected for his oceanographic endeavors.
