Gene alawys had a smile on her face, and something nice to say to everyone. I didn't get a chance to know Her very well but I can honestly say that I will miss Her. See ya in Heaven some day my friend.

Gene and Bill Bode were among the very first families who welcomed us to Temple Terrace UMC. We have loved and been blessed to know them all of these almost 40 years. Gene's servant spirit was evident throughout her life and especially known with Metropolitan Ministries. She was truly responsible for raising thousands of pounds of food and a multitude of toys for children throughout the years and holidays. Her loving passion for others made a tremendous difference in the lives of hungry and homeless families. She made us all want to do more for the Lord and His work. Thank you, Gene, we love you.

Don and I have known Gene for many years at TTUMC and Don before that at Forest Hill UMC. She always greeted us by telling us how much she loved us and appreciated us. She always had such positive things to say about everyone and everything.

As we greeted on Sunday mornings, we always looked for her and Bill to come up the sidewalk, hand in hand, or arm in arm. The only time you saw them apart was when Bill ushered; and he always ushered on the aisle Gene sat on. They both had such a passion for Metropolitan Ministries and worked hard to collect food and money for that ministry.

TTUMC will never be the same without her and her smile!

Gene radiated love and enthusiasm. She (with Bill) modeled and reflected Gods love and caring through her mission works and just by her joyous personality. I have been blessed by her presence at TTUMC and Publix and , well, all over the Terrace at community events for nearly 35 years. She was another grandmother to Lachlan. Gene's love will be forever a precious memory. Thank you, Bill, for sharing your treasure with all of us.

Gene and Bill Bode are some special folks I’ve known and loved for many decades at TTUMC. We’ve been through many changes there but among the things standing out is outstanding support for Metropolitan Ministries. I especially appreciate Gene’s support for my selection of my new love, Coppi. Gene made my decision to marry Coppi easier!

Gene was one of the nicest and kindest people that I have ever known. She was especially supportive of our Juniorettes, as she thanked the girls for all their volunteer work and she showed a definite interest in them. I will miss seeing Gene's smiling face at our Juniorette Bingo Party fundraisers. Her interest and compassion were sincere, and our world is a better place because Gene was part of it.

I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Bode from the TTUMC youth group. She was like a mom to all of us. She loved to hug us and ask how we were doing and of course feed us pizza too! I have seen her on occasion through the years and she always managed to put a smile on my face. A beautiful life well spent!

I will keep the family in my prayers! PS. Love seeing those pictures from her younger days! Boy I see where the Bode girls got their looks!

I knew Mrs. Bode from being involved in missions work with her at church. I knew her to be a kind and loving person who always sought to help others. She was such a lovely and genteel lady who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. I loved her very much and I know those feelings were returned. She will truly be missed.

Sunday mornings at Temple Terrace UMC weren't complete until I saw Gene and Bill. She was always upbeat and had something positive to say. She brightened my morning and will be greatly missed. We can take solace that the newest angel will bring that same spirit to heaven.
