Gerald E. Martell

Gerald Edward Martell died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the age of 85 peacefully in his sleep at Hampton Manor at Deerwood in Ocala, FL where he resided for the last six years. He was a Marine Corps veteran & faithfully served most of his life as a minister with the United Methodist Church in both the Florida & Georgia Conferences. He received his Masters of Divinity from Emory Candler School of Theology, Atlanta GA with a minor in drama which he used throughout his career. On June 8, 2018 the Florida Methodist Conference recognized him for fifty years of service. In addition to preaching, Gerald enjoyed computers and dabbling in magic to the delight of many children. He also had a love of photography developed from his Marine Corps days. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lillian V. Martell, his daughter, Donna Lynn Martell, his mother, Lillian Davies Martell, his father, Edward Rudolph Martell and his son-in-law James Jerman. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Jerman, LaGrange, GA, his sons, Glenn & wife Lori Martell of Minneapolis, MN, Stephen & wife Patricia Martell, Lancaster TX and Charles & Diane Martell, Ocala FL. Gerald was blessed with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A grave side service has been planned for Wednesday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Tampa FL.
