Glenn Edwin Ferrall, Jr., 64, of Lutz, Florida, passed away on August 26, 2024 at home with his devoted wife and three daughters by his side. Glenn was born on November 9, 1959 in New London, Connecticut. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 1978, where he met his beloved wife, Sheila.
In 1985, Glenn graduated from the University of Florida with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He started his career at Temple Terrace Animal Hospital before opening Tampa Palms Animal Hospital, in 1988. Glenn was dedicated to his profession and proudly served the Tampa Palms Community for more than 35 years. Glenn had a special talent for communicating with his clients and great respect for the significance of the human-animal bond.
Glenn’s commitment to his family was nothing short of exceptional. Unwavering love and support were the cornerstones of his relationship with his wife, Sheila. Together they role-modeled the benefits of hard work and dedication. He inspired his daughters to always reach for the stars. He believed they could do anything and so they did. Glenn understood the importance of showing up for family and instilled that value in his children.
To say Glenn was an avid Florida Gators fan is an understatement. Even after his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, he made it to every University of Florida home football game last season. Anyone who has ever attended a football game with Glenn knows that means staying until after the Alma Mater is sung at the end of the game.
When he wasn’t spending time with family or at the Swamp, he enjoyed golfing and helping out friends. He was known for not only being handy, but clever and resourceful. Glenn never met a home improvement project he wasn’t willing to tackle. Many valued his counsel.
He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Edwin Ferrall, Sr.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheila; three daughters: Meghan (James) Ferrall-Fairbanks, Hannah (Matthew) Simoneau, Rachael (Sanjay) Nair; mother, Dorothy Ferrall; sister, Susan (Kenneth) Graham; brother, Gregory (Theresa) Ferrall; brother-in-law, Robert Weinberger; brother-in-law, William (Christine) Weinberger; sister-in-law, Patricia LaChance; brother-in-law, John Sweeney; grandchildren: Rosalynn Ferrall-Fairbanks, Priya Nair, Cecilia Simoneau; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 West Bearss Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Glenn be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.
