Pat and I were the closest of childhood buddies.  We have been out of contact for many, many years and I am grieved to just learn of his passing.  I had so much fun with Pat in our early years.  We went to church and school together at Oak Grove Methodist in Tampa and Twin Lakes Elementary.  During the summer, we often spent the night (his home was always more fun), playing 
“Army and Civil  War” (Confederates, of course) in  the pastures and old barn on his family property.    
I loved trading books Pat and I checked out from the Bookmobile every two weeks.   We both loved history, especially about the American Civil War.  We went to Busch Gardens together when it offered only a small bird aviary and to Lowry Park when it offered only a “Wishing Well”, picnic tables, and playground equipment.  As little boys, we went to drive-in  movies  together, swam at Sulfur Springs, and went on “long day trips” to  Tarpon Springs. when it was still a Greek sponge fishing village.
I am 70 years old now and looking back, cherish my memories with Pat.  He was the best friend I ever had Pat had a very gentle spirit and Scripture declares that a gentle spirit is of great worth to the Lord.  Based on that, I am looking forward to our reunion!


My friend since 1970, when we met entering Florida State University. Went our separate ways several times, but eventually wound up in Tampa FL ca.1992. A generous fellow, he often shared his Rainbow River FL trailer with us for family weekends. He was a cat lover, owning at least eight over his lifetime (Nard, Pearl, Angela, Bernadette, Poppie 1, White Socks, Sammy, Poppie 2, and others). Patrick was a great road buddy and navigator during our six American Civil War driving tours; most of these treks covered over 2,000 miles and we never got lost once (this was well before GPS!). We both were history nuts, specifically "Civil War Bores," Patrick so much so that he "enlisted" in a re-enacting unit (Confederate, Milton Light Artillery). He was at his happiest when he met Carmen Gonzalez and married her. Unfortunately, the couple had a run of the worst type, starting Christmas day 2012(?), when Carmen died unexpectedly. Patrick's health slowly deteriorated thereafter; he had to reside in an assisted living facility for a number of years. He got to return home, but truly was never the same fellow as before. I do miss him. He's now on the long march to wherever he wishes to go. Godspeed, Glenn Patrick!
