Harry Nathaniel Ramdial

Harry Nathaniel Ramdial (b: November 28, 1942, d: August 26, 2026) was the third son and fifth child born to John Sundar and Esme Rosalyn Ramdial (both deceased). He was also one of six siblings born to the same family (Felix, George, Margaret, Esther, Harry, and Samuel).

Harry received his primary academic education at St. Stephen’s Scots School. There, he excelled in subjects such as math and Geography and was chosen to be “prefect” for three (3) consecutive years – 3rd to 5th standard, inclusively. Upon graduation, he continued his academic studies at Guyana Oriental College (GOC) where he continued to show great interest in the two above-mentioned subjects, also developing his ability to become a very formidable Chinese checkers player.

Harry also developed a keen business acumen – assisting his eldest brother, Felix, with the formulation and implementation of a grocery sales and distribution operation for customers in and around Georgetown, eventually extending service to out-of-town customers.

Having that developed desire for continued self-improvement, he emigrated to England where he joined his older sister, Margaret, and her family. He eventually returned to Guyana where he taught academic subjects at the Wismar Secondary School, under the principal leadership of Professor Cecil Waldron (deceased). Alas, however, while still in the prime of success, Fate dealt him a sorrowful hand – he was involved in a serious accident which resulted in his spinal insufficiency. As time progressed, that condition degenerated to the point where he needed assistance to ambulate effectively.

He eventually emigrated to the U.S. where he joined his eldest brother, Dr Felix Ramdial (now deceased), and received necessary treatment for his medical malady. All the while, our dear Harry continued to be surrounded with love from his other siblings and their loved ones here in the U.S. – George (deceased) and his family, Esther, Samuel and his family, as well as Margaret and her family (who relocated to Florida). Eventually, his sister, Esther, having also relocated from New Jersey to Florida, “stepped up to the plate” and brought Harry with her to Florida for continued treatment.

His younger brother, Sam, reminisced about Harry’s natural charm to attract others to himself. One case in point was during the St Stephen’s Primary School days when Harry was surreptitiously “courting” one of the female students (who also seemed to have had an interest in Harry’s amorous advances. Sam, being the younger one, would respectfully walk a few steps behind Harry so as not to “intrude.”

On this theme of love and affection, it was well known that “sugar-boy” Harry was loved and adored by all who knew him – his many adoring nieces and nephews, their loved ones, his sisters-in-law, Carmen, Juliet, Annette, Sheryl, and many, many others. (Sam jocularly opined that he, Sam, should be “that lucky”). As previously noted, Harry’s life was filled with love and affection – both to and from others. Harry has blessed us with his warm spirit of affection; his personality is surely one to emulate.

On August 26th, 2026, our dear Harry answered the Heavenly call and, as a believer, went to that place comfortingly promised in the book of John, chapter 14. Left to mourn his departure are his two sisters, Margaret and Esther, his brother, Sam, many doting nieces and nephews, along with their loved ones, grand-nieces and nephews (too numerous to mention), and a myriad of friends and associates.

May his beautiful soul rest in peace and rise in heavenly glory!!!
