Helen C Elliott, 92, decided on February 22, 2020 that it was time to sit next to those she loved so much, and missed for so long. She was born on October 16th, 1927 in Hazard, Kentucky (Big Creek) then moved to Greensburg, Indiana where she met the love of her life, Lotus H. Elliott. They were married for 54 years. They began their life together in Indiana, then moved to Tampa, Florida with their two sons, Dan and Jerry. There, they raised their family in a small but growing Tampa in the early 1950s.

Helen had a life like many others, with her sons involved in sports, being active in the PTA at school, and working in her much loved church.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lotus; son, Jerry; her mother and father (Charles and Mary Belle Cornett); and brothers, LeRoy and Willie. She is survived by her son, Dan of Lexington, KY (Connie); daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Elliott; her brothers and sisters Eldon, Ray, Arthur, Cathy, Liz, Ruth, Jenny, and Peggy; her four grandchildren, Dixie, Meike, Daniel, and Christina; and three great-grandchildren, Pandora, Ryan, and Thomas.

How can we not feel good for her? She is with her Lord, family, and friends.

A visitation and reception will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood on Bearss Ave. on Thursday April 8, 2021 from 2-3:45pm, with a memorial service at 3:45pm, and interment to follow at Lake Carroll Cemetery.

Rest in peace Sister Helen.
I will never look at (and smell) a sweet william or a dogwood
without thinking of you,
We've shared a lot of challenging and wonderful things together.
Of such things lives are lived. God is good all the time!:-)
We will share only wonderful things in Heaven. Congratulations! You have made it! Say hello to all our favorite folks with whom you are now able to live in the Presence and Glory of our Lord Jesus!!
Your sister, Liz

Our family as a whole owe Dan and Connie a great debt of gratitude for so lovingly and selflessly caring for Our sister, and his beautiful Mother. I miss my Big Sis so much. I miss her smile, her stories, her mischievousness, her laughter...Helen was so precious and generous to all. We shared “secrets” too, and I’ll keep them between us because it was after all, a sister promise. I know I will see her again one day. Until then my dear sweet sister I will miss picking up my phone and hearing you start singing “Sweet Jenni Lee from sunny Tennessee” to me. I am blessed to have such a wonderful Big Sis.
