Smith Jr., Ira J, 90, of Lutz, Florida went to see his Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born in Tampa, Florida to the late Ira and Jimetta Smith. Ira retried after 42 years with GTE. For his service in the United States Army, Ira earned the American Theater Service Medal, Eame Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Ira leaves behind his beloved wife of 69 years, Ethelanna Smith; two daughters, Sandra Smith Hayes and Trudy Smith; brother, William E. Smith; sister, Jimetta Wright and two grandchildren, Charlie Hayes and Kari Borley (Zack). A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, August 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes, 5105 School Rd., Land O’ Lakes, FL. 34638; family will start receiving guests at 10am; burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
