
Irma Jean Doke of Tampa, Fl Age 87, died of peacefully on February 1st, 2022. She was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Fl.
She is survived by three daughters Nancy Doke Harrison (Peter) of Key Biscayne,Fl.; Charon Jean Rivers (Tom); of Birmingham, Al.; Cathy Doke Metzger (Dennis) of West Chester, Pa. Her sister Shirley Ann Simpson of Tampa, Fl.; Grandchildren Ashley E. Coley (Nicole) of Riverview, Fl; William C. Coley of Tampa, Fl.; Rachel Walters (David) of Birmingham Al. Great Grandchild Emma Kate Walters of Birmingham, Al
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Col.Charles Richard Doke USAF, by her parents, Gene and Irma Simpson of Tampa, Fl and by her beloved grandson, Lnc/Cpl Thomas E. Rivers Jr., killed in Afghanistan April 2010.
Jean graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and attended Florida State University. She spent time working in Washington D.C. where she met up with Charles, whom she had grown up living across the street from in Tampa. They began dating and eventually married spending time all over the world, as a U.S. Air Force Pilot Officer’s wife.
Jean spent many years as a stay-at-home mother until her girls were older and then started working in real estate as a Realtor for Tam-Bay Realty. She was actively involved with her family and various social activities, including serving on the Alumni Board for the Academy of the Holy Names/Sacred Heart Academy.
Her favorite times were spent at their beach place in Madeira Beach Fl, where she and Charles had many friends and shared happy memories.
A service is scheduled for Friday February 11, 2022 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for their devoted care.
