Our Father and PaPa, 97 passed away peacefully at his home into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, February 12, 2021. Born in Waycross, Georgia in 1923. His family moved to the Ybor City area where he fell in love with the game of baseball and would later play for teams around the Cuscaden Park area. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Navy as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class and served his country in WWII until his Honorable Discharge. He later met and fell in love with our Mother Joan and they were married in 1948 and had three children; Donny, Doug (Allison), Rhonda (Ed). Jack worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad for 40 plus years until his retirement in 1987. He was very proud of his 3 grandsons Doug (Felicia), Scott (Francis) and Zack (Kayla) and his great grandchildren Reese, Jackson, Freeman and one month old Fletcher. Papa spent countless hours teaching the game of baseball to his grandsons and hitting Fungo until it was too dark to see outside. He will be missed dearly by his family and it’s comforting to know that he is now with his wife in Heaven. The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday, February 18, 2021 between 10-11am at Blount Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa. Services will begin at 11am at the Funeral Home followed by Interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
