Jacqueline “Jacky” Celia Tobey (Goodchild), 91, of Tampa, Florida passed away peacefully with both her children by her side on the morning of February 26, 2023. She was born in Adleburgh, Suffolk, England where she met and married her late husband Burton Martin Tobey, a US Air Force serviceman. As a young girl she attended Adeburgh Primary School. During WWII her family was forced to move out of their home due to the bombing on her hometown. Fortunately, her family all survived. While in England she worked as a clerk at a chemist shop and was a hairdresser's apprentice. In 1951 Jacky was elected the Aldeburgh Carnival Queen. She married in 1953 and moved to Bangor, Maine in 1954. Jacky held various jobs in retail, had two children and was active in the PTA and Girl Scout leader. In her early years she enjoyed dancing, bicycling, tennis, going to the beach and socializing with friends. In later life she enjoyed word puzzles, playing on her iPad and her pet cats -- she always loved anything to do with animals!
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Burton Martin Tobey. She is survived by her daughter, Sherryl Ann Tobey and son, Martin James Tobey both of Tampa, FL.;two granddaughters, Courtney Tobey Meis (William) of Hunting Station, NY and Chelsea Tobey Bieniek (Robert) of Chicago, IL, 3 great grandchildren; Caleb (9), Clara (7) and Millie (3) Meis -and baby girl Bieniek due in June.
A visitation for Jacqueline will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Monday, March 6th at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.support.kidney.org) or the ASPCA (www.secure.aspca.org).
