Breck was raised in upstate New York. He attended Choate as a young man and he then graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL in 1963, where he met and married Marilyn Fisher.
He served in the US Navy for 4 years. He worked as a stock broker and then in the accounting industry recruiting young men and women into the profession.
Breck was an avid cruiser reaching Pinnacle status with Royal Caribbean. He also was a huge NY Yankees fan and served as an usher for about 20 years at their spring training games in Tampa, FL.
He is predeceased by his son James Breck Boynton III. He is survived by his dear friend Noelle Malcom, daughter Jennifer Roberts (Wayne) of Tampa - granddaughter Jordan Roberts and grandson Tanner Roberts, daughter-in-law Jan Boynton of Odessa - granddaughters, Danielle Boynton and Lindsay Boynton.
