

Nestle Sr., James "Jim", 85, of Tampa, FL passed away July 23, 2016. Jim was born March 27, 1931 in Richfield Springs, NY. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Nestle; daughter, Lela Nestle Mikell; son, Jim Nestle Jr.( Sandi); granddaughters, Casie Leppan (Ray) & Katrina Mikell; grandson, Garrett Nestle; great grandsons, Maverick & Levi Leppan; great granddaughters, Jaylynn Thompson & Gianna Severin; sister, Jean Dolder; cousins, Beverly Wilson (David) and Betty Graham. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Nestle Krieger; mother, Lela Van Benschoten; sisters, Irene LaQuay & Greta Daskiewich. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was stationed at MacDill Air Force Base during his military career where he was a member of the 809th Air Police Squadron and the MacDill AFB boxing team, welterweight division. He was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and worked at Wolf Brothers until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Elks Club and also helped lead the way towards establishing the GTYSA, a youth sports association located in Tampa, and was later honored by having the field rededicated in his name “Jim Nestle Field” on October 27, 1992. He was very devoted to his family, friends and to helping others and was the ultimate “go to” guy that you could always depend on. He was a great handyman that could fix just about anything and also loved to watch sports, especially football, and spending time with his beloved wife, Loretta along with all his family & friends who will miss him so dearly. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 4th at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood, 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, August 6th at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 10110 N. Central Ave, Tampa with interment following at the Garden of Memories, 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to your favorite charity.
