Jim was born in Quincy, Ma. and grew up in the greater Boston area. He was married to Carol (Fox) Powers for 62 years and their wonderful journey took them all over the country, landing them in Tampa in the late 70s. His career was spent in the building profession. Jim was a proud family man, whose greatest joy in life was caring for his family. An avid cook, Jim was the king of backyard barbeque and smoking, who loved nothing more than cooking poolside for his family and friends. He had a larger-than-life personality and a loving demeanor only matched by his generosity towards others.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Shelley (Franco), son Eric Powers, and his grandson, Seth Franco. He is survived by his wife Carol, his son David Powers, daughter Mellissa (Dayan), grandchildren Jessica Cirino, Devin Powers, Sage Franco, Jacob Dayan, and Arin Dayan, great grandchildren Cameron, Phoenix Gideon. We will be celebrating his life with a memorial service on Sunday May 7, 2023, at 3:00 PM, Congregation Schaarai Zedek 3303 W Swann Ave. 33609. Reception to immediately follow.
