Savedge, James Richard, 88, of Tampa, passed away on Thursday, November 1. James was born on July 13, 1930 in Sussex, VA. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Richmond, and completed his graduate studies at the University of Virginia. A passionate educator, James served four decades in Virginia’s school system, holding such positions as teacher, principal, and Assistant Superintendent throughout his career. Upon retirement, he further pursued his passion of collecting antiques, opening an antique shop in Reedsville, North Carolina. James was a people person and loved all aspects of life, especially his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anselum and Felicia Savedge; siblings Joyce and Tiny. He is survived by his sister, Anne; sister-in-law Dorothy; three children, Susan (Murph), Ricky (Margie), and Todd (Lisa); 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. His family will celebrate the memory and life of James by holding a private ceremony in his honor.
