BLACK, Janice 77, of Tampa, passed away early Saturday, September 19, 2020. Born in San Francisco, CA January 9, 1943, her family moved to Lisle, Illinois just outside of Chicago. She moved to Florida in 1960 to the Forrest Hills area of Tampa and graduated from Chamberlain High School. Janice was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her career with GTE until 1992 and soon after became a Guardian Ad Litem advocate for young children in the foster care system. She was an avid reader who enjoyed true-crime mysteries, a crafter who loved to paint and cross stitch and a life-long fan of Rod Stewart. Janice had a kind heart who never judged others and was devoted to her children and friends. She is survived by three children, Catherine Najarian, John Najarian ( Lori), and Ernest Black (Rebecca); four grandchildren, Terry Michaelis, Christopher Michaelis, Sydney Black and Regan Black; several nieces and nephews; long-time companion and best friend, Harvey Jones and ex-husband, Gordon Black. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Freida Woolverton; husband, William Najarian; siblings John Woolverton and Sharon Carroll. A special thank you to Seasons Hospice and all who cared for Janice with love and kindness. A funeral service will be held in Jan’s honor on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10:00 am, Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave, Tampa FL 33610.
