

BELL, Jean Shivell, 101 of Tampa passed away peacefully on July 6, 2016. She was born in Louisville, KY to Lucinda (Lucy) Adams and Thomas Frederick Shivell. Jean married Crawford Walters Bell, who was later killed in action in World War II. She moved to Tampa with her parents and her daughters in the early 1940s. Jean worked in the accounting department for the non-appropriated funds at MacDill Air Force Base for thirty-seven years. She was a faithful member of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church. Jean had a love for all dogs, especially her Lhasa Apsos Ping Pong, Beeper and Tukala. Her daughters Barbara Bell Simmons and Sherrill Bell O’Neal, granddaughter Leslie Simmons, grandson-in-law John Abbott and dearest friend Col. Frank J. Shannon, USAF, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son-in-law Solon F. O’Neal Jr. of Tampa, granddaughters Gay O’Neal Abbott of Big Canoe, GA and Susan O’Neal Thompson (Clay) of Tampa, grandson Randall O’Neal (Lorna) of Atlanta, GA, great-grand children Clay IV and Laura Thompson, Cousin Sherry Adams Meyer of Milwaukie, OR. In accordance with Jean’s wishes there will be no memorial service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 11am at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, a donation may be made in Jean’s memory to Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Shriners Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.
