
Joel Damon DuBois, after a long illness departed this earthly life on December 10, 2015. He was born in New York City. He entered the United States Air Force (USAF) January 16, 1956 and served 28 years in the Fuels career field. He was promoted to Senior Master Sergeant (E-8). Upon his retirement from the USAF, he moved to Tampa, Florida where he was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler retiring after 15 years. He is survived by Gloria, his wife of fifty two years, and a son Heywood DuBois (Rick) of Portland, Oregon. He was a devoted Catholic and served 32 years as a parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church. He was the recipient of the Diocesan St. Jude Medal for his service to St. Paul Catholic Church. He graduated from Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute. He also completed the requirements for the Master Catechist. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at St. Paul Church and a 3rd Degree Knight at St. Peter Claver Church, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). He was also on the Board of Directors for McClain Foundation and the Stewardship Committee for St. Paul Church. His formal education included an Associate Degree in education from South Plains College and a Bachelor Degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist College. Mr. Dubois was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Giants. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 6-8 pm in the Blount & Curry Funeral Home- Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, Florida 33618. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 10am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 12708 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, Fl 33618.Interment to follow at Myrtle Hill Cemetery.
