

Barroso, John, 83 of Lutz, FL died December 8, 2015. John was born and raised in Ybor City. He served 4 years in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. John worked 17 years at Holsum Bakery and then became a Union Representative for the Bakery Confectionary Union AFL-CIO for 29 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Gustavo and Hortensia Barroso, his brother Luis “Kitti”, and his beloved children David John and Deborah Lynn. John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Isabel “Cookie”; his adored daughter Melinda Louise; brother Emanuel “Mano”; nephews Louis and Gus; nieces Ileana Quijano, Brenda McCarthy, Dee Agganis, Marrisa Jagger, Darlene Jerez; and goddaughters Michele Wratchford and Stephanie Gill. A special Thank You to Dr. Rafael Blanco and staff at the Florida Cancer Specialist and the Blue Team of Hospice for the care and concern. The family will receive a gathering of friends at Blount & Curry Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa, FL on Tuesday, December 15th, 2015 from 1 to 3 pm.
