John Phillip “Train” Garrett, 52, of Tampa, passed away on 5/13/2020 in Tampa, Florida.

John was born Tampa, Florida to Alice and Bryan Garrett on 11/13/1967 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He went to school from elementary to high school through Hillsborough County Public Schools. He married Lisa Garrett on 3/28/1992 in Brandon, Florida. They had one son, Jonathan Garrett, in April 1994 He went to semi-tractor trailer driving school and worked for various trucking driving companies for over 15 years and that is where he got his CB name, Train. He also worked as an auto repossession agent for another 10 plus years until he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and had to go on dialysis. While on dialysis, he developed many friendships both in person and through social media. He loved to bbq and share cooking ideas with everyone.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stanley Wood.

John is survived by his wife Lisa Mosbrucker Garrett, his son Jonathan Garrett, and his sisters and their families; Jenny Cater, Cindy Mc Gaughan, and Teresa Stange and sister-in-law Renee Wood.

John wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes spread in Gulf of Mexico as he loved to go fishing and being near the water.

A Celebration of Life BBQ will be held at a future date when it is safe for family and friends to gather. We look forward to announcing that date and being able to share his life through everyone’s perspective.

The family of John wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the medical professionals who were involved in his care.

Phillip will be missed by all of us in his extended family. He was a great guy and always extended a helping hand. I will miss all of our family get togethers with Phillip, Lisa and Jonathan for holiday gatherings and all of our good meals together.
May he rest in peace and have a great reunion in Heaven with Stanley, Alice and Bryan....
