John "Jack" William Novoselski

July 16, 1945September 28, 2021

John “Jack” William Novoselski, 76, of Tampa Bay, FL passed away on September 28, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital-North in Tampa Bay, FL.

Jack was born in Bayonne, New Jersey to Stanley and Helen on July 16, 1945. Jack was married to his wife Dee for 42 loving and wonderful years. Jack lived a life full of humor, generosity, and adventure. He spent years travelling and working overseas with Dee, until they settled down and eventually retired in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Jack enjoyed much of his retirement years in the air, learning to pilot his small engine airplane. One fateful day, while helping a friend run his airplane detailing business, a stray Beagle wandered onto the tarmac, forever changing not only Jack’s life but the countless lives of families touched by the mission of the Southeast Beagle Rescue, incorporated and run by Jack until his passing.

Jack’s legacy and life’s passion came from the love and heart he put into the Beagle rescue, which his family and friends hope will continue to make an impact in the southeast area for years to come.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Peter, and wife Dolores “Dee” Novoselski.

He is survived by Sisters in Law: Judith and Joan; Nephews: Gregory, Todd, and Jason. Cousins Jack Jr. Marie, Vic and Kevin, Jack III, Chris, Katie, and Jessica.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel. The Funeral Mass services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday October 20, 2021 at St Paul Catholic Church, Tampa Bay, FL.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Southeast Beagle Rescue.

The family of Jack wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the countless friends and volunteers with the Southeast Beagle rescue who have been Jack’s family over the years. We are truly blessed and appreciative of all that you do and have done for Jack, especially during this time of grieving.

What a wonderful man Jack was! I was honored to meet him when he visited Best Friends Animal Society, where I worked, in 2006, and then I would see him at animal conferences through the years. He made time not only for helping beagles but for his human friends, too. He had such a genuine, endearing, and larger-than-life personality, was very generous with his time and resources, was a mover and a shaker, and loved to laugh. With love, Ann

I will miss Jack and he was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with. He was an inspiration in his dedication to rescuing Beagles. It was my privilege to help when called upon by Jack. He rescued so many dogs from the jaws of hell and improved their lives sometimes just with love. When it came to medical care , he was unsurpassed in his commitment to provide what the pets needed. Always. He pushed me to try when I thought we might not succeed. Jack's definition of success was that trying was the reward, not what we judge with our egos. He knew that the animals always try and that resilency in rescuing takes setting aside any judgement of the who's or whys an animal was in the situation it was and instead focus on extending a hand to help. Whenever I talked with Jack and asked what he had been doing, it was one of two answers: " I just got back from-------- with a beagle(s)" or " I just got back from a trip to----" This was Jack, a man with a cause to help animals and to help take care of himself. His zest for travel was clear and I loved hearing about his latest adventure with or without Beagles. Jack will always be in my memory and I will endeavor to live up to the example of another human being who I admired and miss dearly.

I will always remember how kind Jack was when he introduced me to our beagle Emma. I can't believe it's been 11 years, but I'm certain she'll be waiting at the bridge for him. He is going to be so very missed.

My husband and I first met Jack at the at the fairgrounds in the Southeast Beagle Rescue rented space in 2016.
Jack & his team where showing his beloved Beagles, hoping they would find their forever families.
We talked to Jack over an hour while we were falling in love with 1of his Beagles, River May.
We decided to adopt River and you could see how happy Jack was.
Jack was a kind, funny, passionate man with an amazing love for Beagles.
I thank him for starting SEBR, allowing us to adopt River and for all the countless other families that Jack touched.

My husband and I first met Jack in 2008 when we adopted our first beagle from Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue. Our paths crossed a second time in 2014 when we adopted our second beagle from Jack and Southeast Beagle Rescue after our Rocky passed. We are thankful to have crossed paths one more time August 12, 2021, after our sweet Bunny girl passed, when we adopted our little Encore Ruckas, one of the Alabama Peach litter pups Jack rescued. With each of our adopted pups, Jack always whispered and promised good lives to our new furry family members. I will forever remember the last words Jack said upon dropping off our puppy. "I told you this was going to be a good day!" Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your family, Jack, and for the trust you placed in us to raise your sweet fur babies!!! You will be missed, but we look forward to seeing you again someday, along with all your "beagle" babies!!! Love and Respect always!!! God bless!!!

What an amazing human being! I wish we could have cloned you, Jack. Totally unselfish, spreading joy everywhere you went. The world needs more people like you and those who are still here will try to be more like you, as a gift to you. I believe that you will be looking down on us and guiding us from above as we try our best to continue your work. Thank you, Jack, for my sweet Beagles. We all miss you. Eternal rest grant unto Jack, O Lord, he has earned it.

Jack brought us two wonderful beagles to share our life with. Maggie Mae and Susie. Those fur babies brought us so much love and affection and we have Jack to thank for bringing them into our life. When he passed I’m sure there were a crowd of his rescues welcoming him home.

There are no words to describe the admiration I felt for Jack. He made “rescue” look easy. He navigated with a matter -of -fact ease, always professional with a personal touch. His relentless, untiring passion to help every beagle he came into contact with find their way home was awe-inspiring. I have all the faith in the world that the mission of SEBR will carry on as will the many wonderful memories of Jack we all have. RIP my sweet friend, you’ve earned the rewards that surely awaited you as Jesus took your hand and lead you through that field of beagles , what a glorious sound …I’m sure. I will miss you.
