Vanh Ong Luangpraseuth was an amazing and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on what is also his day of birth, September 8, 2021, just turning the age of 62. Even though his failing heart took him away from this world, his selfless loving heart left a beacon of light for all. In Buddhist beliefs, he lived and went to Heaven on his birthday is a blessing. Ong was always a hero and stayed strong until the end.
He was born to Chanchou and Nouangdy Luangpraseuth and was the 5th oldest out of his nine siblings. Ong is now reunited in Heaven with both his parents, older sister Somphou Luangpraseuth and granddaughter, Zoey Vanida-Thi Pham.
He is survived by his wife, Phonesavanh La Luangpraseuth of 42 years. Married, October 20, 1979. They were teenagers when they first met, fell in love in their homeland, Muang Lao. He was teaching at a school at the time. Shortly after, they left Muang Lao to the Thailand refugee camp and got married there and went to the gulf of Philippines refugee camp for six months. When they first arrived in America, they attended Manchester High School in Connecticut. Together, they had two daughters Talina Khanhmala-Toukta Pham born in 1981, and Susanna Siriphone Luangpraseuth born in 1988. He was an extremely proud papa to both his girls and his son-in-laws, Vinh and Thoiu. He is also survived by his granddaughters Deylahni and Skylar, brothers, and sisters; Phouthalom, Somchanh, Somphan, Soubanh, Kheauvanh, Thonhchanh, Thonglai, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Alongside his wife, he received his U.S. Citizenship and became Johnson Vanh Luangpraseuth, his given name was Thongvanh before he came to America and well known by his nickname, Ong.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to our father. He loved to clean; he was such a neat freak. He loved to sing his heart out. His humorous personality and smile were contagious to everyone that crossed paths with him. He left people rolling in laughter. And when he wanted to get serious, he would direct himself to his news channels and politics. Ong also loved to do merits at the temples. He was a very traditional and religious man. His wish was to become a monk if he lived to an old age. And we hope that in the next life his wishes are fulfilled. His brothers and sisters remembered him best as always taking great care and being there for them. He loved them dearly.
He made a huge impact on many people. Vanh was the realest GOAT and will forever be in our hearts and live on in our memories. He never wanted any of us to worry about anything. He was such a selfless person and put many people he cared for before himself, and his strong and carefree spirit will forever live on. He will be incredibly missed, but never forgotten.
His life will be celebrated at Blount & Curry, Terrace Oaks Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, September 17, 2021.
