Jose Luis Vilató, 66, passed away on January 29, 2019, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was Born on June 22, 1952 in Baracoa, Cuba to Yolanda Mendoza Vilató and Jose Luis Vilató. Jose came to the United States at the age of 15. He graduated from Port Chester High School in New York. Shortly after his graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army where and served an overseas tour in Korea. Jose resided in Tampa for most of his life and worked as a machinist for an aerospace company. Jose was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He is most remembered by the time he cherished together with family and friends. His love for dancing, boating and fishing are a close second to his undying loyalty to those he knew and loved.
Jose is preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Vilató and sister Maria Rosa Portes. He is survived by his mother, Yolanda (Mendoza) Vilato and children; Sandra (Kristopher) Lucas from Tampa, Diana (Jean Carlos) Dugrot from Fayetteville, NC, and Bryan Vilato from Tampa. Jose also has 10 grandchildren as well as nieces, cousins, close friends and extended family in the United States, Cuba and Spain.
Lastly the family request that memorial gifts be made to the ALS Association, in lieu of flowers.
