July 28, 1946 – June 12, 2025
With her devoted husband by her side, Julie Scaglione Tomlin passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Julie was a proud graduate of Hillsborough High School. Deeply rooted in her faith, she found strength and solace in her Catholic belief and often turned to the rosary in moments of reflection and prayer.
Julie was a woman of warmth, wit, and wonderful taste. She had a passion for travel, domestic and abroad. Julie’s trips to France remained her fondest memories — a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and beauty that matched her own refined yet joyful spirit. A true culinary enthusiast, Julie took delight in both creating and savoring good food. Whether she was preparing a home-cooked meal or enjoying a chateaubriand for two (avec béarnaise sauce)—medium rare—from Bern’s Steak House or eating at other fine dining restaurants. Julie’s love for food was one of the ways she connected with the world and those she loved. Her favorites included escargot, linguini with clams, NY style pizza, tiramisu, and cannolis — a clear nod to her fondness for Italian fare. Julie also enjoyed going to Tarpon Springs for an gyro and slice of cheesecake.
Julie found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a sunny day at S. Lido Beach, where she appreciated the comforting shade of pine trees, her feet in the sand, while having a picnic by the water surrounded by the sound of waves and wildlife. She enjoyed the dry humor of Curb Your Enthusiasm and the timeless charm of Laurel and Hardy. Music spoke deeply to her soul — Julie loved Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant, mid 1980s Phil Collins and anything Motown (esp. Marvin Gaye and the Supremes).
Julie cherished her family deeply. She was the proud grandmother to a lively bunch of grandsons, which she often noted with a smile and a hint of amusement. Her love for them was boundless and ever-present.
Julie’s warmth, grace, and vibrant personality will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the memories she made, the meals she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charlotte and Peter Scaglione. Julie is survived by her husband, Jody Tomlin; son, James T. Stephens and his wife Janna; three grandsons, Jacob, Joshua and Jonah; great granddaughter, Lily; and brother, Peter Scaglione Jr., his wife Janet; beloved nieces and nephew.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Blount and Curry Carrollwood located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. There will be a time to share memories at 6pm, so please come with a great memory of Julie. A mass to celebrate Julie’s heavenly homegoing will take place at 10am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 12708 N Dale Mabry Hwy. Tampa, FL. 33618 and will be immediately followed by a gathering in the St. Paul Social Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Julie by enjoying a meal with loved ones, raising a glass of red wine in her memory, or simply taking a moment to feel the breeze beneath the pine trees.
Donations in Julie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
