

Born in Chicago, Ill on October 28, 1944 to USAF Lt. Colonel Rolf Warren Beutlich and Mary Anne Schweizer, Larry is the eldest brother to surviving siblings Carole Ann Cayer, Maui HI, Mary Kay Winstead, Fountain Inn, SC; Russell Francis Beutlich, Houston, TX; and Barbara Lynn Blake, Tampa, FL.
As a military family, they lived in several states, eventually settling in Orlando, FL. Larry enjoyed boxing and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a 1962 graduate of Bishop Moore High School. In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army serving in Vietnam and remained after his tour was over as a contract mechanic servicing army vehicles. There he met his future wife of 58 years, Yen Thi Nguyen, and started a family with three boys: Daniel, Minh Van, and Lawrence Rolf Beutlich, Jr.
His family returned to the United States in 1971 where Larry worked as an auto mechanic in Orlando, FL while earning a degree in accounting from Central Florida Technical College. He worked in several positions over the years including auditor for the State of Florida and Blue Cross Blue Shield, CFO of Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville, FL and head administrator of PruCare HMOs in Jacksonville and Tampa.
In life Larry had several passions. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidsons with his biker friends and was a firearm enthusiast. He enjoyed tending to his large vegetable garden. He was a champion drag racer, published author, and built a two bedroom house on stilts from scratch. He loved AC/DC music. He also never met a chocolate bar he didn’t like.
Most of all, he was a devoted husband and a good father. His greatest treasure is his grandson, Lawrence Rolf Beutlich, III.
Military honors will take place at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Florida National Cemetery located at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
