She was born to James W. Duckworth and Lora Knight Duckworth and proudly attended Turkey Creek High School, where she graduated as a Gobbler. Known to many simply as Diane—or affectionately as “Little Ducky”—she left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Diane was a devoted wife for 55 years to her loving husband, Joseph M. Lane III. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. She loved working in her yard and tending to her garden, and she was an exceptional cook and baker—so good, the family joked she must have “spit in the food.” But above all else, her greatest love was her family.
She devoted her life to being an extraordinary mother and grandmother. Diane was a true “little spitfire”—the family comedian, a no-nonsense, small-but-mighty ball of dynamite. Tough yet sweet, she made sure you knew you were loved. Famous for her legendary side-eye and perfectly timed eyebrow raise, she always had a quick comeback or a sassy remark ready. Through many challenges in life, she persevered with strength, grit, and unwavering love.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Lane III; her parents, James W. Duckworth and Lora Knight Duckworth; her sisters, Doris Tillis and Delma Crim; her brothers, Lowell Duckworth and Charles Duckworth.
She is survived by her children: Lorrie Lane Flores (Alex Flores), Joseph M. Lane IV (Jessica Walker), Jessica Lane Luis (Albert Luis).
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Lance Simon (Cynthia )Emily Berry, Nathan Skinner, Erin Skinner Dupepe (Noah), Gabrielle Maycumber (Johnny), Noah Frelich(Emily), Kadin Durgan, Maekayla Durgan, Lane Luis, Kyler Walker, and Alex Flores; and her cherished great-grandson, Easton Dupepe.
She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was our momma and will be deeply missed. Pure sass from first to last, she is not gone—she just went home.
