Leonard "Lee" Abel

Leonard “Lee” Abel, 55, of Lutz, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at 11:37 p.m. Born in Fort Belvoir, Lee lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, family, friendship, and a determination to make the most of every moment. He loved to live life to the fullest.

Lee was a proud graduate of Hillsborough High School in Tampa, Florida, Class of 1989–1990. In August 2024, he achieved an important professional milestone when he received his Master Plumbing License. He was the proud owner of IKAP Plumbing — “I Know A Plumber,” a business that reflected his hard work, dedication, and pride in his craft.

Outside of work, Lee knew how to enjoy life. He loved riding his motorcycle, taking cruises, playing darts, and enjoying good food—especially crab legs. Some of his favorite moments were the simple ones: Friday night motorcycle dates with his wife, Sunday morning breakfasts, and afternoons spent swimming in the pool with his beloved dog, Emmie. Lee had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or a story that could bring a smile to those around him.

Above all else, Lee was devoted to his family. He was the biggest cheerleader for his children, always proud of their accomplishments and eager to support them. His love for his family was evident in the way he showed up for the people he cared about, celebrated their successes, and made memories with them.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Carl Abel Sr.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Christine Dotson-Abel; his children, Brendan Abel, Leah Abel, and Daylin Pettitt; his mother, Connie Abel Howder; and his brother, Carl Abel Jr., and his wife, Lisa, along with nieces Sidney and Kacey. He is also survived by his sister, Melisa “Lisa” Abel-Pamplona; nephew, Tyler Otero; and great-niece, Elena Otero.

Lee’s circle of family extended far beyond those connected by blood. He was blessed with lifelong friends whom he considered brothers: Derrick Key, Albert Sentner, Jason Herrera, Rob Santa Cruz, Andres Echeveria, and Eddie Diaz. Their friendship, loyalty, laughter, and shared memories were an important part of Lee’s life.

Lee will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, quick wit, love of motorcycles and good times, devotion to his family, and the way he embraced life. He leaves behind countless stories, memories, jokes, rides, meals, and moments that will continue to bring smiles to those who knew and loved him.

Lee lived life on his own terms, loved fiercely, laughed often, and never missed an opportunity to make a memory. His spirit will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Visitation will be held at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, US, on August 29, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life for Lee will take place at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
