Born on May 25, 1938, in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico, Lucila was raised alongside six siblings in a modest, loving, hardworking home. In her twenties, she married and moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she built a life and raised her two children, Louis and Elizabeth. In the 1990s, she made Florida her home, enjoying the warmth and sunshine for the rest of her days.
Lucila dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, pouring her heart into raising her children and playing a foundational role in helping raise her grandchildren. Her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of her incredible cooking, the drama of her favorite telenovelas, and the timeless melodies of latin music, especially the boleros of Los Condes.
Deeply connected to her roots, Lucila cherished the island where she was born, sharing that love through summer trips back to Puerto Rico. She was funny, kind, and easily made lasting friends wherever she went. Lucila was also strong-willed, spirited, and unapologetically herself—a woman of great conviction whose tough exterior was matched only by the fierce, protective love she had for her family.
She is survived by her loving children, Louis and Elizabeth; her three grandchildren, Christine, Melanie, and Benny; and her two great-grandsons, Carter and Nolan.
