Lillian “Kay” Cooper, 90, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Monday, March 12th.

Kay was born in Jefferson, TX where she spent her early years. Known as “The Yellow Rose of TX”, no doubt this is where she developed her characteristic feistiness! When John, so handsome in his uniform, came along to sweep her off her feet, she had the opportunity to travel, develop friendships, and appreciate other cultures, including their last stint in Saudi Arabia. Upon return to Tampa, Kay & John found their spiritual soft place at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Kay spent many hours volunteering for social events, mentoring at bible study and enjoying camaraderie at retreats. The many friends she developed through her church family over decades provided unwavering support, especially in her last days. Kay was also graced with family that loved her. They grieve for her loss but know that she’s heaven’s newest angel. Kay is survived by her daughter, Linda Buttitta and her spouse; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Cooper; grandchildren, Tony Vadnais and Chris Vadnais, and their spouses, and Jonathon Cooper and Kyndra Cooper and her spouse; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Katy and Kelsey Vadnais, and Easton and Kinsley Vadnais.

Funeral service will be at 1030am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 6100 Memorial Hwy, Tampa, FL 33615; family will start receiving guests at 9am. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
