Loretta (Evenocheck) Lorenzo passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 88. Born to Michael and Mary Evenocheck, she was the second of four children, alongside her siblings Michael, Mary Ann, and David.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Loretta embarked on an adventurous career as a medical technologist, working in Ely, Minnesota; Oakland, California; and Zurich, Switzerland. While in Europe, she met her future husband, Silvio. They later married and settled in Toledo, Ohio, where they raised their son, Mark.
Loretta continued her career at the Medical College of Ohio, retiring in 2003. A woman of remarkable strength and determination, she also overcame stage IV lung cancer.
The Lorenzo home was always filled with friends, laughter, and good food. As one friend fondly recalled, "She didn't raise one son, she raised ten." Loretta was always smiling, loved to laugh, and made friends wherever she went. She shared a particularly special bond with her sister Mary Ann, Mike and Dave. Whenever they were together, the laughter never seemed to stop.
In 2018, Loretta moved to Spring Hill, Florida, where she enjoyed reading, watching classic television shows, and spending time with loved ones. She especially adored her granddogs, Shelby and Sidney, who passed before her and whom we lovingly imagine welcoming her once again.
Loretta is survived by her son, Mark Lorenzo, daughter-in-law, Sheri and grand dogs, Sasha and Samantha, of Tampa, Florida, and her brother, David and sister-in-law Joyce. Many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and friends in Toledo, Minnesota and across the country. She was preceded in death by her husband, Silvio, and her siblings Michael and Mary Ann.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details announced on her Facebook page.
Loretta will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her welcoming heart, and a lifetime of laughter and love.
