Lottie Mae Flemming (Rainey) Bender was born on August 19, 1939, in Macon Georgia to the late Ransom and Doris Flemming. Moving to Florida with her family, she worked as a dedicated nurse until her retirement of 35 years from (County Hospital) now Tampa General Hospital she received numerous awards for her dedicated years of service. She was an active member at St. John M.B. Church, Pastor Eddie Newkirk Sr. , later she moved her membership closer to home at New Hope MB Church where she song in the Choir. She was a committed volunteer until her departure with (Blue Moon 211; Suicide Awareness /Prevention) and an Eastern Star, Chapter 228 Francis Gilmore. Mrs. Bender was married to Samson Bender, she is preceded in death by, son Prentiss Rainey and Willie James Rainey, her father, Ranson Flemming; mother ,Doris Ferguson Flemming; brothers, Ransom(Bug)Fleming and Margie Flemming. She passes her torch to her daughters; Teresa Rainey, Vanessa Rainey Johnson (Johnny), Tonya Rainey Johnson. Brothers, Hiwatha Flemming, Macon GA.; Rev. Timothy Flemming(Virginia, (Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Atlanta GA); Norris Flemming, Macon GA. Sisters: Julie Moore (Frank) Detroit MI; Dorothy Tyler, Macon GA., 9 grandchildren; Nephthys Proctor(Ronald);Maurice Rainey, Prentiss Rainey Jr, Nefertiti Fleming Aziz(Mikal), James Johnson (Kristi),Chattanooga TN; William Osiris Fleming, Savannah Ga., Neferteri Fleming, William Horus Fleming and 19 great grandchildren a host of cousins, nieces, nephews , in-laws and friends. The visitation will take place Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Gardens of Memories 4207 E Lake Ave. Tampa, Florida 33610, 4-7pm.
