Dr. Luis Eduardo Durango Valero went to walk with our Lord on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He is survived by his two children, Diana Marie Durango and Nicholas Alexander Durango, as well as their mother, Mary Esther Durango Martinez. He is also survived by his mother, Matilde Durango Valero, eight siblings and many nieces and nephews. Luis loved all of his family, friends, and patients. He was a gentle and caring man, who had a passion for medicine, and healing others. He had a constant yearning to learn in order to
help others through Western Medicine, Eastern Medicine, and Functional Medicine. He was unparalleled to others in his field. He attended medical school at Spartan Health Sciences University where he received his MDdegree, and later received his DPM from Barry University in Miami, while also finishing his surgical residency in South America. He continued, until his last days with us, studying for his certification in Functional Medicine. He would pray to God daily asking, “I ask that you help me. Teach me how to forgive,
and to give me the wisdom and knowledge that I need to live a spiritual life, and to be able to help others. Thank you.” One that had the honor of knowing this humble, spiritual, wise, and loving man, knew that his prayers were answered. His heart was able to forgive those who trespassed him. His spirit grew with the love of God. He did and still continues to help others through his medical and spiritual teachings that he shared with his patients and others. He was a man whose virtue in honesty, truth, and respect, to this day,
is revered by many. He was a father whose impact of love, dedication, and virtue lives on as a legacy with his children. They say that we cannot look upon the face of God, but rather to experience God. This certainly was a man that allowed you to experience the graces of God through his love, humility, and practicing of faith and spirituality. He knew, and would often say that God was a verb… that God, our Father, was love. His credo was that we must love one another and treat others with love to know God and experience God. To know this man was to love him. To know this man was to know love. To know this man was a blessing for all of those with whom God allowed us to meet, to live with, and, to now, live on with his legacy. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will live on and will not be forgotten.
