

Olivari, Marcos Raul passed away on December 13, 2015. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Marcos attended a variety a schools in the U.S. and Europe before graduating from the University of Florida in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He earned a commission in the U.S. Army through ROTC and served with distinction in a variety of roles as an Air Defense Artillery Officer with a secondary specialty as a Tactical Intelligence Officer, attaining the rank of Major. He received a Bronze Star Medal for his work throughout his 14 year career. Upon leaving the Army, Marcos ably served the State of Florida in the Department of Corrections as a Senior Probations Officer. While in that capacity, Marcos carried out many additional duties to include firearms instructor and firing range coordinator. Throughout his life, Marcos was a man of many interests. He had a passion for reading, was a gifted artist, computer science technology guru, and a proud member of the Civil War reenactment unit, Company K of the 4th Florida Volunteer Infantry Regiment. A man of great integrity, loyalty, and wit, Marcos will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Blount & Curry Carrollwood Chapel.
