Margaret "Peggy" Fiske King, was born in Chicago, IL to Andrew D. Fiske and Margaret Naughton Fiske. She attended Our Lady of Peace School through the eight grade and graduated from St. Xavier's Academy and continued her education at the College. Her stories of high school are the stuff of legend, tormenting nuns and skirting the rules wherever possible.
Peggy worked at a business in downtown Chicago where she saw a handsome young man entering the elevator and she bet a co-worker she could get a date in 10 floors. She won, dinner with John Forbes King followed as did marriage, six children and eleven grandchildren and four great granddaughters.
Married life began in Chicago before a move to Long Beach City, Indiana as the family expanded. Business forced a move to Connecticut in 1963 and the family settled into a house on West Norwalk Road. Another transfer in 1973 resulted in a location in Montreal, Canada where Peggy and John enjoyed lots of golf at the Royal Montreal Golf Club.
Returning to Connecticut in 1979, a new home was settled in Darien, CT until retirement in 1991 brought Peggy and John to Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club where they both indulged their passion for golf and Peggy was a regular at the bridge table. Following John's death in 2010, Peggy continued to live at Magnolia Point until making the decision to relocate to Osprey Village at Amelia Island along with her beau Charlie Elliott who made her very happy as he kept her company and loved to sit and talk.
Nothing made Peggy more happier than her children and grand-children but she truly enjoyed and trick involving water including but not limited to pushing people into the pool fully clothed, soaking them with a garden hose or any type of water gun. Peggy's seventieth birthday gift was a high powered Super Soaker, she wore it out. Peggy's love of her family also extended to daily calls with her children and a never-ending desire to know what was going on in everyone's lives.
In declining health, Peggy made the move to Tampa to be closer to family and took an apartment at Discovery Village. She will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Florida alongside her husband.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, John Forbes King, her sister Nancy Fiske Corrigan and her eldest daughter Maggie Dee. She is survived by her son John and Midge King of Darien Connecticut, son Andrew and Sara King of Beaver Creek, Colorado, daughter Mary and Lowell Gruman of Traverse City, Michigan, daughter Sarah King and Sara Shevel of Tampa, Florida and son James King of Buford, Georgia along with eleven grand-children and four great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the Teal team at LifePath Hospice who truly make Peggy's last days happy and comfortable.
