Marlene Ann Powers

Powers, Marlene Engelson, 73, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on Monday, the 25th of August, 2025. She graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1969 and the University of South Florida in 1973. She worked as a secretary for the City of Tampa for 30 years, from 1973 to 2003. She truly loved her retirement years, from July 4, 2003, until her death.

Her lifelong affection for Barbies and Disney princesses brought her joy well into adulthood. When it came time to name her dog, she couldn’t possibly choose just one favorite. Instead, she lovingly named her “Princess,” a tribute to them all and a reflection of the magic she carried in her heart, and the childlike whimsy she spread to all who knew her.

She leaves behind, in gratitude, her family and friends. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Trava Alston, Nieces and Nephews: Darrell Redman, Andrew Engelson, Seth Engelson, Brandon Alston, & Kristen Engelson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10, beginning at 11:00, with a service starting at noon at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 East Lake Ave, Tampa, FL.
