Our beloved Mother, Marvene R. Hanson, died peacefully last Saturday at 2:15 PM at her home surrounded by several of her children.
Mom was born on January 24, 1926 into a loving nuclear family that already had two young daughters, Kathleen and Matt. Her parents were father Daniel Reeves and her mother, Willie. The family eventually grew to include one more daughter.
Daniel Reeves was a railroad man. He worked as a train Engineer. This means the family enjoyed a steady income throughout the Great Depression. Willie raised chickens for fryers and eggs, tilled a large country garden, and raised her girls to be future wives.
Her City of Birth was Scanlon, Florida.
She and our Father, Edward R. Hanson, Sr. were married while Dad was stationed in Primary pilot training at Mariana, Florida. She told me that she and Dad met at an Officer club dance and only knew each other for ten days before they got married. Their marriage lasted over fifty tumultuous years.
Her children were Carol Hanson, Terry Hanson, David Hanson, (Edna), Kathy Hanson, Michael Hanson (Kim), Mark Hanson (Cathy), Chris Hanson (Jenny), Lisa Hanson, Laurel Hanson, Gary Hanson, and Rachael Hanson.
Her grandchildren include Orlando Hero III, E. Reid Hanson, Eric Hanson, David Hanson, Jr., Carroll Richard Hanson, Marissa Hanson, Carl Hanson, Josh Hanson, Jessica Hanson Reder, Brittany Hanson Arias, Christopher Hanson, Justin Hanson, Gian Carlo Cutrufello, and Joseph Cutrufello, Jr.
She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
Mother was a safe haven against the storm for her family. She stood strong and protected us as we each grew to maturity. She loved us and we loved her.
The family wishes to thank all of those who helped her in her waning years and we have particular gratitude to our sisters Lisa and Laurel for the exemplary care they gave mom.
