Mary Kathleen Major

Mary was born December 30, 1946 in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of James Welsh and Mary Welsh, who immigrated to the United States from Scotland and Ireland respectively. A first generation American, Mary grew up in Chicago where she met her husband Martin, a US Navy service member. The Navy gave Mary the opportunity to live in a number of cities including Boston, Los Angeles, and Jacksonville before eventually returning to Chicago. In 1979, she moved to Tampa with her young family. Mary enjoyed bowling, traveling, baking with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Martin Major, Her sons Martin Junior and Joseph, her daughter Jennifer, and her grandchildren Madison, Logan, Hannah and Miria.

Visitation will be held at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, on July 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

A short Viewing will be held at St Paul Catholic Church, 12708 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618, on July 14, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am.

Funeral Mass will be held at St Paul Catholic Church, 12708 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618, on July 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Mary Kathleen Major will be remembered as a cherished presence in the lives she touched, and for a faith that guided her with quiet steadiness and grace.
