Tampa, FL – Mary would like you to know that she received a call, a sort of call that a believer cannot refuse, because her work here is done. The call she received included a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Permanent residence in a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing with dad “Mr. Mac”, gardening (because there won’t be any weeds) and needlework projects to do until her heart is content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed for her. She left detailed instructions for her children to celebrate her mission here, which is now completed.
Mary passed away on March 30th, of natural causes. She was born Mary Jane Miller in Butler, PA on June 8, 1933. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harold “Mr. Mac” McWithey and her grandson, Ernest Michael Avila. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Ann Marie Avila and Tina St Arnold and her son, Dane McWithey, five grandsons, ten great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Mary was the youngest and the last of eleven children. Mary will join Mr. Mac in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Back in the day, Mary enjoyed pulling weeds in the yard for hours (believe it or not) which we think was her therapy, bowling, needlework, playing board and card games, singing in the choir and her dogs over the years. She and our father were true examples of faith in the love of their maker and redeemer and his promises.
If you had the pleasure of meeting Mary, you would agree that she did a great job with her assignment here on earth and you would wish her safe travels. We will remember her smile, her warmth and her love for life, her kindness and love for family and friends and anyone who crossed her path. She made a difference in so many lives all the way to the end and we invite you to join us and celebrate her together.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Carrollwood Baptist Church, 5395 Ehrlich Rd, Tampa, FL 33625 on Friday, April 16th at 6 p.m. with dinner in the reception hall followed by a Memorial Service immediately afterwards. If you are unable to attend, you will be able to watch live on the church’s website Http://www.Carrollwoodbaptist.org
