passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018. He is survived by Kolleen Kerr his beloved wife of 55 years, his son Steven Steadman wife Sarah and grandchildren Stephanie, Scarlett and Sophia of Newnan, GA, his daughter Kimberlee Steckman husband Jay and grandchildren Katherine, Meagan and William of Martinsburg, WV, his son John Steadman wife Darby and grandchildren Liam and Audrey of Tampa, FL and his sister Shirley Lindow of Harrisville, MI. Milt was born March 9, 1933 in Lincoln, Michigan. He graduated as valedictorian from Harrisville High School in 1951, graduated from Michigan State University in 1955 where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, and earned his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago in 1965. Col. Steadman served 28 years in the United States Air Force with war time service during both the Cold War of the 50's and 60's and the Vietnam War of the 60's and 70's. During his 28 years of service, Col. Steadman was a navigator in the B-47 jet bomber at Lincoln AFB, NE and was a WSO (Weapon Systems Operator) in the F-4E at George AFB, CA, Luke AFB, AZ, Southeast Asia, and Europe. He flew 184 combat missions over North Vietnam, and among the many decorations he wore were the Legion of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, 16 Air Medals and two Meritorious Service Awards. Col. Steadman retired in 1984 as the Base Commander of MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. After retirement, Milt was an active member of Lake Magdalene UMC and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). He enjoyed spending time with his family & friends, traveling, golfing, and his early morning coffee discussion group. A memorial service will be held at Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church on July 24th at 11:00am and interment will be in the Kerr family plot in Hamburg, Iowa.
