SPOONER, Nancy Rice, 94, of Valrico, FL died Oct. 31, 2019. She was born March 17, 1925 in Lynchburg, VA to Earl and Frances Rice. Nancy’s father died when she was young and to support her family her mother took boarders into their home. One of the boarders was a young radio technician recently discharged from the US Marine Corps who worked at the radio transmitter next door. On August 21, 1948, Nancy married that radio technician, Bearl Lane Spooner. Bearl and Nancy moved to Florida where Bearl soon co-owned a marine electronics business and Nancy was a devoted wife and mother. She was actively involved in her children’s school and 4H activities. Nancy loved nurturing and showing orchids, Camellias and many other flowers. Bearl, her husband and constant companion of 64 years, preceded her in death, as did one son, Edward.

Nancy is survived by son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kathleen Spooner of Lithia, FL; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Debbie Spooner of Trophy Club, TX; daughter Nancy Ann Spooner of High Springs, FL; daughter Barbara McClernan of Plant City FL; son Joseph Spooner of Riverview, FL; daughter-in-law Nancy Spooner of Valrico, FL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Heartfelt condolences to the Spooner family. I didn't get to meet "mom" very many times, but it was so obvious that she was greatly loved by her family.
