Nancy Mae Wofford, 89, passed away April 29, 2021. Born in Roanoke Virginia, she was a life-long resident of Tampa. Nancy was a graduate of FSU and a teacher, spending her career educating students at Chamberlain High School and The University of Tampa. She was a member of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church where she played the organ for services for over 30 years. She was active in various organizations in Tampa, including Krewe of Venus. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crosswords and spending time at her mountain house in North Carolina.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William Ross Wofford, her daughter Susan Leigh Wofford DeLacure and her parents Mai Laverne and Merrill Emory Friend. Nancy is survived by her son John Bradley Wofford, and devoted family and friends including Michelle and Joe Blair, Felicia, Tina and Gianna Russo, Jeanne Wocking, Pamela Chillura, Jill O’Neill, Beth Gonzalez, Jennifer Goodman, Kevin Johnson and Pam and Rick Schultz.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Blount and Curry Carrollwood located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. The family will receive friends starting at 10am, 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will take place following the funeral at 12pm at Myrtle Hill Cemetery located at 4202 E. Lake Ave. Tampa, FL. 33610.
