Norma Globus Thomas
September 23, 1933 – March 9, 2019
Norma B. Globus-Thomas, a current resident of Lutz, Florida and prior longtime resident of Winter Park, Florida passed onto glory surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday March 9, 2019, at the age of 85.
Norma was born on September 23, 1933 in Macon, Georgia where she resided most of her childhood. She moved to Orlando, Florida with her family in her early teens and graduated from Orlando Senior High School. She found the love of her life and married Lawrence Globus in the summer of 1952, thus began her legacy. Larry and Norma were blessed with three beautiful children and settled in Winter Park, Florida to raise their family and start their own business. After many years of success in the appliance business, they retired and pursued their favorite hobby as vendors in craft shows. Larry and Norma enjoyed 36 years of marriage until Larry's death in 1988. Norma continued in the craft business and ten years later met the second love of her life, Leon A. Thomas, better known as Art. Norma and Art enjoyed 9 years of marriage before he also preceded her in death.
Despite her loses, Norma's life reflected her God-given gifts of hospitality, generosity, kindness and wisdom. If there was a need, Norma was there to fill it. She always went beyond her own resources to help others in their time of despair. Because her sincere love for others and her acts of kindness, she set the example for many to follow. She taught her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren the importance of always putting God and family first. Although her own health began to decline, she continued to volunteer her time and abilities in the Kinship Program in Tampa, Florida, helping under-privileged families through difficult times.
Norma was also preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Lillian Edwards, her brother Virgil and two infant grandchildren, Joshua and Ashley. She leaves behind three children, Tena Randecker (Bruce), Michael Globus (Linda) and Deborah Taylor; one sister, Carolyn Heizmann (Emil Sr.); 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Although she will be missed greatly, her family and friends have the peace and assurance of knowing she has reached her heavenly home.
