

Johnson, Opal Mae (Alderman), passed away on February 22nd, 2015. She was born in Boggy Creek, Florida on May 3rd, 1926. Opal moved to Tampa, Florida in 1947. Opal is survived by her daughter Freddie Sue Fulton (Frank), four grandchildren, Michael Alfieri (Virdie), Michele Bestor (Mark), Ronda Saldana (Nestor), Brian Fulton and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Saldana, Cody Lonergan, Megan Lonergan, M. Giancarlo Alfieri, and Tessa Fulton. Opal was preceded in death by her husband Fred Johnson and her daughters, Cynthia Ann Alfieri and Diane “Dede” Lazo. Opal was the youngest of 13 children, all of which are deceased. Opal was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. Opal had a special twinkle in her bright blue eyes. Some may even say mischievous. Opal was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and employee. Although, she was small in stature, at 5’ in height, she was big in personality and in might. Opal worked for Walgreens Corporation for 40 years. She worked her way up from cosmetic clerk to the position of District Cosmetic Supervisor. On numerous occasions Opal unloaded the delivery truck herself to make sure a store was set in time for a grand opening or special event. Opal was known for her great southern cooking, chicken and dumplings, cornbread dressing, fruitcake and much more. Her house was always open. It was known as the gathering place. It was a place of comfort, good times, good meals, fun and laughter, a place for family and friends alike. She loved her family dearly. She enjoyed showering her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with gifts. Opal will surely be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will take place at 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 26th, 2015, at Garden of Memories, located at 4207 E Lake Ave, Tampa, FL 33610. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Entombment will immediately follow. Pallbearers: Frank Subero , Michael Alfieri, Mark Bestor, Brian Fulton, Nestor Saldano , Cody Lonergan, M.
