

Patricia dedicated her life to helping others, particularly children with disabilities. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida and went on to build a fulfilling career as an Occupational Therapist with the Pinellas County School System. Through her work, Patricia touched the lives of countless children and families. Her patience, compassion, and genuine love for children were at the heart of everything she did.
Outside of her career, Patricia found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She loved kayaking and riding bikes with her husband, reading mystery books, baking, especially when it involved chocolate, and gardening. She loved spending time with her family and loved ones and cherished every moment with them. She especially enjoyed working and playing with children, and her caring nature extended far beyond her professional life. Patricia had a gift for making people feel cared for, and the love she gave to others will remain with those who knew her.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Heckenbach, her daughter, Laura Frazier, her mother, Jean Newton, and her brother, Rick Newton.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Meachem, her grandson, Trey Frazier, her sister-in-law, Meg Newton, as well as her extended family and the many friends, colleagues, children, and families whose lives she touched throughout her life.
Patricia will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for others. Her legacy lives on through the people she helped, the children she cared for, and the countless lives she made better through her work and her love.
A visitation will be held on November 7, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Blount & Curry Funeral Home – Carrollwood located at 3207 W Bearss Ave Tampa, FL. 33618.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Patricia’s memory to The Alzheimer's Association, an organization whose mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia.
Patricia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
