

On May 22, 2025, Pauline “Polly” Powers, age 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Polly was born in Los Angeles, California and received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from University of Iowa. She had a long and distinguished career as a subject matter expert in and professor of Psychiatry and worked with clients with eating disorders and burn survivors. She presided over numerous mental health organizations, including the presidency of the National Eating Disorders Association and founder of Fairwinds Treatment Center. Polly was a passionate quilter and crafter, loved movies, and loved New Orleans (and everything French).
Her parents, Floyd and Helen, and her husband of 58 years, Henry, pre-deceased her. She is survived by her brother, John; two daughters, Jessica and Samantha; and her granddaughter, Emma. She will be forever remembered as an amazing wife and mother.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Blount and Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
The family asks that donations be made to the National Alliance for Eating Disorders in lieu of flowers.
