2018 at the age of 83. Peggy was born to parents Norman Alexander and Margaret J.
(Lauer) Terrell on February 5, 1935 in Cleveland, OH. She was the eldest of five
children and attended North Olmsted High School. After graduating she modeled for
Halle’s Department store and worked in a dental clinic, this led to her meeting her future
husband at a dental convention. In 1955 she married, Kenneth Boye and they moved to
Miami, FL where he practiced dentistry. In 1956, Ken was diagnosed with cancer and
they moved to Buffalo, NY for treatment. Unfortunately Ken passed away that year,
shortly after the birth of their daughter, Karen. Peggy then moved back to North Olmsted
with Karen, where in September of 1957 she married Paul R. Sidlo. They had two more
daughters and a loving and wonderful marriage of nearly 61 years. In 1960, after Paul
completed dental school, they moved to Florida. They lived on Saddleback Lake in Lutz
for 30 + years where they raised their family.
In 1975 Peggy went back to school at St Petersburg Junior College, diligently traveling
across the bay from Lutz for two years, where she obtained her degree to become a
Registered Dental Hygienist . She worked as a dental hygienist with Paul, in Lutz, FL
until their retirement in 1996. Peggy and Paul loved to travel. There travels took them to
Colorado to snow ski and to many more exotic places like Australia, Hawaii, Europe and
Japan. She loved the Japanese culture; from the clothing, furnishings, and food to the
bonsai trees, tea ceremony, and her beloved koi pond. She had many talents. Peggy
was quite artistic. She had an eye for fashion, for architecture, flower arranging, sewing,
ceramics and much, much more. She had an amazing Christmas village collection that
she filled the house with every Christmas for years. And then there is her love for teddy
bears, actually, everything to do with bears. While her vocation was dental hygiene, her
love, pride and joy was her family. They came first, her husband, her daughters, and her
granddaughters meant so much to her.
Peggy’s love for Paul was apparent to all who knew them. Peggy was the kind of mother
who made sure her children had a great home life. She loved planning special occasions
for her daughters and surprising them. She would have special dinners for them where
they would dress for the occasion and learn about the country or theme surrounding
it. She made sure they were involved in all kinds of activities; ballet, drama, soccer,
gymnastics, basketball, softball, swimming, and horseback riding were a few of their
activities Peggy always supported. She made sure they had a great scouting
experience by being actively involved with them from earning badges, learning the silly
songs, selling cookies to camping experiences, Mom was always there. Her love of
sewing led to some imaginative Halloween costumes which helped make up for having
much of their Trick or Treat candy confiscated. Mom always provide them with
encouragement and love in all that they did, something they will cherish for the rest of
their lives.
Peggy loved to spoil her granddaughters, taking them to Mermaid shows, Tea Houses,
Christmas Houses, the Zoo, American Girl Store, Red Hat Society Tea Parties and
more. But the best were the little things; like going to Bob Evans for strawberry French
toast, naming the orangutans at the zoo, playing board games for hours, watching the
“Golden Girls” together and laughing until they cried, tucking them into bed while singing
the silliest songs to them, and talking with them while she meticulously groomed her
hair and “put her face on” the next morning. As they got older she loved to send them
little notes, coupons, and “mad” money while in college and their birthday and other
special occasion cards were always directly on point.
Peggy loved animals, especially dogs. Some of her earliest photos show her carrying
around a dog, a pretty big one for a 5 year old! The family had two beautiful German
Shepherds while living in Lutz, first “Skuffy” and then “ Brutus”. Most recently her pride
and joy have been her “ Granddogs” owned by Terry and Jill. You know she loved them
because of the sign over her door, “ Grand Pets Spoiled Here”.
