Peter "Pete" Paul Lehner

Peter Paul Lehner, known as Pete to many, age 90, passed away on September 21, 2026. Born on May 16, 1936 into a faithful household, he was raised in the Catholic faith where Pete lived a life marked by steady devotion, diligent effort, and the kind of loyalty that anchored those fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered with deep affection as a beloved and cherished presence—one whose days reflected both purpose and warmth.

Pete graduated from Rider College, later known as Rider University, in Trenton, NJ—an achievement that reflected his hard-working spirit and commitment to building a meaningful life through perseverance and responsibility.

He proudly served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne. His service spoke to an adventurous spirit and a readiness to meet life with resolve, carrying forward a sense of duty that remained evident throughout the years that followed. Pete was honored to have been the aid to General Westmoreland.

Pete married the love of his life, Dee and for over 65 years, their enduring partnership stood as a testament to steadfast love and loyalty—an abiding bond that shaped the heart of his life and home.

Pete enjoyed golfing, riding his bike, playing tennis, and basketball, and he remained very active into his later years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he especially enjoyed watching pro and college football games on TV. He also loved watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud. In quieter pleasures as well, he found joy in sharing a good meal at Longhorn steakhouse—simple moments that became lasting memories for those who shared them with him.

Pete was a supporter and member of Carrollwood Cultural Center, reflecting a continued commitment to community and connection. His life will be remembered with respect and gratitude, and his absence will be felt by all who held him dear.

He is preceded in death by his, daughter, Lisa Ann Lehner-Smith.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Dee; grandchildren, Jarrett Smith and his fiancé, Suzie Martin, Darcy Katz and her husband, Zach; son in law, Tony Smith; brothers, Paul Lehner and Robert Lehner; sister, Mary Ann Earley and her husband, Jack; sister in law, Bettie Rhodes-Hoy; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Pete was very excited to know his legacy would continue with a great grandson on the way.
