Zarate, Rene M., 80, passed away November 2, 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and devoted to his Catholic faith. He was a founder and 1st President of Hospice of Hillsborough, a successful businessman, Knight of the Krewe of Saint Yago, 32nd Degree Mason, Little League Baseball Coach, former President of Optimist Club of NW Tampa & Italian Club. He is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Vivian (Butch) Braaksma, Rene J (Mary), John (Patty) and Jackie; seven grandchildren; Sarah, Anthony (Krysti), John David, Aaron, Michael (Caitie), Sierra and Alan; three great-grandchildren; Lola, Ava, and Zuri. A celebration of life will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday, November 5, 2016 with a visitation from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, followed by a memorial mass at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rene’s memory may be made to Academy Prep of Tampa, 1407 E Columbus Dr, Tampa, FL 33605.
