Richard Atlee (Tony) born on November 21, 1937 passed away on April 14th 2026 from natural causes in Deland, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents Richard Andrew Lagomarcino and Nancy Atlee Lagomarcino and his brother, Paul Andrew Lagomarcino, his nephew, Brian Lagomarcino, his wife Janice Lagomarcino, and his companion of 15 years Ioane Coleman. He is survived by his two sisters, Nancy Mimi Roth, and Suzanne Lagomarcino, his two children, Elizabeth Atlee Hall (Kirk), and Holly Suzanne Sierra(Ruben), his six grandchildren Kaleb, Tyson, Amelia, Aubrey, Nancy, and Robert, and his three nieces, Debbie Lagomarcino Rudd, Natalie Lagomarcino Ledesma, and Candy Lagomarcino and many other friends and family. Richard was born in Clinton Iowa and moved with his family to Tampa Florida in 1952. Following his graduation in 1956 from Jesuit High School, he joined the Army from 1958 until 1961, then in reserves until discharged honorably in 1964. During his time in the army, he was an Instructor on the Lacrosse battery in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he gave classes on the lacrosse missile system. In addition, while stationed in Paris France, Richard collected and delivered information related to the U2 aircraft mission which was shot down over the Soviet Union with Lt Colonel Graham of the US Marines in 1960, May Day. The U2 plane had been kept in Pakistan. Richard was also involved in collecting information on the Sino-Soviet (China Russia) union block, and he collected information on the Czechoslovakian embassy in France. Richard was a basketball player and member of the Championship Head S US EUCOM Basketball Team from 1960-61. Richard received a medal for good conduct for his service. Following his graduation from University of South Florida in 1979 in accounting, Richard worked as a tax auditor for the Florida Department of Revenue for the majority of his career where he retired in December of 2008. One thing he enjoyed the most were family vacations up to the blue ridge mountains of North Carolina, Beech Mountain, specifically. In the last five years of his life, Richard moved from Tampa to live with his eldest daughter and her family in Deland, FL. His youngest, Holly and her family, were able to join yearly family trips to North Carolina during that time. We are so thankful for these memories as well as trips to Arkansas to visit Candy and see the solar eclipse, and to Alton Illinois, for his brother’s and nephew’s celebration of life. One of the gentlest and kindest of souls, Richard was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, uncle, soldier, and friend to all. He enjoyed making sure to talk with everyone involved in his life and to keep up to date with their well being. He is missed.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, 47202 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, Florida.
